When I was at school my English teacher said I should be a journalist. Thank goodness in many ways I didn't as I couldn't be arsed with the amount of crap out there in the media. Now I'm in a job where I have to film with some basic tech & the lovely fluffy mini mics for funders to give real feedback on projects I'm working on. I cannot stand my voice, once I had a drama teacher who wanted me to lose my accent and talk all posh. No thanks, no pretence for me. Anyway, regardless of your intent, I'm glad you did find your way to being on telly, and your youtube channel. And - on here!
The episode of Red Dwarf where you appear as the human version of Kryten was on the other day. 'Double polaroid' and 'Yorkshire Kryen' are classic segments.
I'm a late comer to Red Dwarf. I mean I knew a show of that name existed, tangentially, somewhere at the fringes of my awareness, but I had never seen it until about five years ago. I'm a fan now. Tis a silly show. Inconsistent, sometimes juvenile, often thought provoking, and always silly. The introduction of your character was when the show truly found its footing. That dynamic is why it shines. And now I find you here! From an old man, but a new fan: thank you for the laughs, and thank you for the trains of thought and the good conversations that Red Dwarf has ignited due to your stellar performances.
Lovely. I just checked it to see if it would be a good place to upload a couple of my feature films, and — yup — they're already posted there pirate-style. 🙄
I'm really glad you took a winding and interesting path to where you are now. Your work has brought joy to me and my family over the years.
I will never forget, and cherish, the first time my Dad watched the episode of Red Dwarf "White Hole". Your delivery as Kryton telling Rimmer he's a "trumped up, farty little Smeghead" he's ever had the misfortune to meet made him spray his gin and tonic across the room (literally).
Scrapheap Challenge was a staple for me after I left home. I adored the humour and creativity.
Back to your path, I think the most interesting and intelligent people I know have followed unconventional paths to dream jobs. My other half started as an outdoor activities instructor and is now a blacksmith. The way his mind works to create functional art is something I'm in awe of.
Kryten's surname is 523P, not 523C. What a jerky surname that would be.
Damn sir, you are right. I have corrected, what a rookie error!
Every job I've ever had has kinda just happened, usually with a quick meeting as well, not formal interviews. :D I just drift from thing to thing.

Would I be embarrassing myself to ask what is Billi Billi?
Not in the least embarrassing. Bilibili (I got the name wrong of course) is a Chinese/south east Asian version of YouTube only with far more users.

A friend of mine regularly points out that the word "career" is a verb as well as a noun...
I love Red Dwarf! It use to come on our local PBS station here in Maryland. Right after Doctor Who.
Great stuff!
