Hi Robert

This death business came into sharp focus for me just over a week ago when my seemingly healthy mum ended up in hospital and died 3 days later. The shock was phenomenal but I don't know whether it was worse than for friends who lost parents after a long drawn out illness. But you're right - we don't get to choose so I guess it makes no difference in the end 🤔

Had a conversation with a consultant talking about how and from what I was likely to die of. I was 52 at the time, with rampant high blood pressure and failing kidneys. I wasn't ready for that conversation at 52 but at 57, kidney transplant at 55 - I will probably die of that kidney failing at some point in the future. But I'm ok with that.

From time to time I ponder if the accumulated effort of not being like others forms a shape of what we want to be like the cutting of a silhouette. I also misread one of your sentences as saying your Dad wasn't a bald man. I need to clean my glasses.

To your concluding points I think it's important to think about it, discuss it if others are open to it. Your example of finding out more about Dignitas and changing your mind was interesting. It's sobering that in a world of so many choices that some things like physics that resist persuasion.

Thanks for the musings Robert. I'm thoroughly looking to the next ABN episode on the Everything Electric Show when you proudly wear that T-shirt.

Your rant is very timely. I have found myself thinking the same way. I really appreciate the points you made for me to ponder.
